Thursday 5th March started very early at Eastriding Spaniels. We were packed and ready for the journey from Bridlington to Birmingham at 3:15 am. Crufts is a four day event with Thursday being Gundog day. This year there were three entries from Eastriding: Hans, Midas and Freya.
This year’s Crufts was the largest to date; with over 21,000 dogs being shown over the four day event hosted by The Kennel Club, at The NEC. Crufts celebrates every aspect of the role that dogs play in our lives and in its 124 year history has become far more than a dog show.
Eastriding’s three entries were in the breed classes with an entry of 204 Springer’s – here’s how they got on:
Eastriding Armani Diamonds (Hans)
Put on a brilliant show in the Limit Dog against 20 other dogs and was judged 3rd by the famous Frank Kane. A respectable result for Hans who showed his socks off – we are thrilled.
Multi Ch Adamant’s Fortune is Future (Midas)
On loan from breeder Tarja Holiva at Adamant’s in Finland, Midas performed well in his UK debut. The visitor faced a strong open dog class of 15 and wasn’t placed on this occasion but enjoyed his day immensely.
Hollivera’s Verona With Eastriding (Freya)
Our own puppy Freya behaved like a seasoned professional and went on to win the minor puppy bitch class. Not bad for her Crufts debut!
The day was long, but gave plenty of opportunity to meet with friends from around the globe. Our annual pilgrimage to Crufts this year was one of the most enjoyable we’ve ever attended. Roll on next year!
Thank you to Kay Woodward for her kind permission to publish these photographs of the day.
